Friday market (‘vrijdagmarkt’ in Flemish): Fresh fish, tasty bread, crisp fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious Italian delicacies and much more. The market takes place from 7:30 am to 1 pm. During daylight saving time in the summer, the market starts 30 minutes earlier.
Vegetable market: Are you looking for seasonal produce that is also local, sustainable and 100% organic? Then, the vegetable market (‘groentenmarkt’ in Flemish) is the place to be. The market is open from 7:30 am to 1 pm.
Saturdays
Friday market (‘vrijdagmarkt’ in Flemish): You can also shop at the Friday market on Saturdays. You will find many new products offered by various market vendors.
The market is open from 11 am to 6:30 pm.
Flower market: Would you like to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers or a nice plant? Then, go to the Kouter (name of a square in the centre of Ghent). You can discover the flower market in all its glory between 7 am and 1 pm.
Sundays
Oude Beestenmarkt: Are you looking for a good used bicycle? Then visit the Oude Beestenmarkt on a Sunday. (Oude Beestenmarkt means ‘old animal market’ and is also the name of the square and surrounding streets). You can buy second-hand bikes here between 7 am and 1 pm.
Sint-Michielsplein (Saint Michiel square): Enjoy the smell of fresh bread rolls (‘pistolets’ in Flemish) and delicious bread, stop by for a nice portion of cheese or fine meats and pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables. The market is open from 7:30 am to 1 pm.
Flower market: on Sundays you can also find flowers and plants at the Kouter.
Extra fun and atmosphere here on Sundays, because then, you can have an aperitif or a steaming cup of coffee. The market is open from 7 am to 1 pm.
Organic market Gent-Sint-Pieters: on Sundays, an organic market (‘biomarkt’ in Flemish) is held at the Maria-Hendrikaplein (Maria Hendrika square) in front of the Gent-Sint-Pieters railway station. You can do all your shopping here from 8 am to 1 pm.
